Another great album from John Hiatt. Starting off with the powerful and very fun "We're Alright Now" brings great energy to the album. The first half of the album really maintains this energy before the tracks become more mellow and emotional in "I Know How to Lose You" and "No Wicked Grin". 

Mystic Pinball also contains two of John's best deep cuts in the rollicking country rock of "Give It Up" and the dark and sinister "Wood Chipper". The acoustic "Blues Can't Even Find Me" ends the album well. All told, Mystic Pinball is very good on first listen and after a few more spins, it plays nearly as well as Bring the Family and Slow Turning. Highly recommended.
