Based on the beloved children’s classic written by John Bellairs, this magical adventure tells the story of 10-year-old Lewis, who goes to live with his uncle in a creepy old house. After losing his parents in a freak accident, shy Lewis Barnavelt is placed on a bus and sent to live with his estranged eccentric uncle, Jonathan at his mysterious mansion in New Zebedee, Michigan. However, Lewis soon comes to discover that both his uncle and the mansion are not entirely what they seem.

Jonathan Barnavelt is a secretive and peculiar man, one who is of constant mystery to his nephew, Lewis. Jonathan soon reveals that he is in fact a powerful warlock, capable of amazing magical feats, and that he is locked in a race against time to discover the source of an unexplained ‘ticking’ within the walls of his house. He believes that the ticking is counting down to something catastrophic and with time running out, he will need to recruit Lewis as his student if they’re to prevent the oncoming disaster.

Jonathan has not been alone in his quest to uncover the source of the ticking; his next-door neighbour Florence Zimmerman has been assisting him in the search for many years. A skilled witch in her own right, she is a loyal friend to Jonathan despite their constant bickering. However, recently she has felt her magical powers waning and so must assist in training Lewis if they’re to stand a chance against whatever evil they uncover.

Kyle MacLachlan is Isaac Izard

A legend and controversial figure within the world of witches and warlocks, Isaac Izard was a student of the forbidden and dark arts which led to his disappearance several years ago. He was also the previous owner Uncle Jonathan’s house, leading Jonathan to believe that the ticking is Izard’s doing and whatever it is counting down to won’t be good.
