Oscar-winner Bernardo Bertolucci (The Last Emperor) directs this story of nineteen-year-old Lucy (Liv Tyler, Lord of the Rings Trilogy), who decides to spends her summer at a villa in beautiful Tuscany with a variety of artistic types. An amateur poet who wants to lose her virginity, Lucy has come to Tuscany following the death of the mother who visited the same place 20 years ago. She hopes to find the identity of her real father and also re-ignite a romance with a local Italian boy. Although Lucy attracts the attentions of several men, she finds she prefers to spend her time with a playwright (Jeremy Irons, Lolita), who is dying of AIDS.
